LIVE Plant - Drought Tolerant Cactus Succulent Pachycereus Pringlei. Shipped bare root with USPS. The Saguaro Cactus (Carnegiea Gigantea) are prized for their grand size. Unfortunately, for most Cactus collectors, it is limited to the Sonoran Desert Climate. Low temperatures, frost and an altitude above 4000 ft are observed to be uninhabitable for the Saguaro Cactus. 🌵 Due to these limitations, the Cordon, Mexican Giant Cactus (Pachycereus Pringlei) has become a popular alternative. Coming close to the Saguaro in appearance and size, (Up to 60ft tall) the Cordon Cactus can tolerate a drop in temperatures down to 27°F (-4°C) and enjoy a little more humidity in contrast. 🌵 This is a beautiful specimen to behold! 💚 🌵 This listing is for a the Cordon, Mexican Giant Cardon Cactus or Elephant cactus (Pachycereus Pringlei). This plant is a species of cactus that is “native to northwestern Mexico in the states of Baja California, Baja California Sur, and Sonora. It is commonly known as cardón, a name derived from the Spanish word cardo, meaning "thistle". A symbiotic relationship with bacterial and fungal colonies on its roots allows P. pringlei to grow on bare rock even where no soil is available at all, as the bacteria can fix nitrogen from the air and break down the rock to produce nutrients. The cactus even packages symbiotic bacteria in with its seeds.” Buyer will receive a plant similar to the one in the first photo. It is approximately 17-20" tall. It is a well established plant with a dense root system. Will ship bare root. Currently in a 2 gallon pot. The following photos are borrowed from the internet and are intended to demonstrate examples of what they can look like in bloom or full size.
